What is MRI and How it Helps your Slipped Disk Treatment?

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. A magnetic field and radio waves are used to create detailed images of the tissues within your spine. The examination is performed in a large tube-shaped machine, in which you lie down inside and remain still for approximately 30-45 minutes. The tube is a confined space. There is an option for an “open” MRI; however, the image quality is not as good.

MRI uses a strong magnetic field to create the images; therefore, the examination cannot be performed if you have any metallic implants. When is MRI recommended?
